LAGOM - January 2025
Ramen bowls + radicchio citrus salad w/ our renewed book list on self-improvement and a refreshed guide on composting
Are we into the swing of 2025 yet?
The new year brings on challenges and changes, with many of us thinking about how we can invest more time in ourselves, which means leaving behind foods (maybe alcohol) that are no longer a match and behaviours that no longer serve. This month, with the intention of nourishing the body, we have new recipes to shift more of our cooking to our kitchens, which means more intention and clarity on what we are feeding our bodies. There are also new additions to our self-improvement books list for those seeking guidance and support and our composting at-home guide for those looking to reduce organic waste and care for their plants.
Perhaps over the holidays, you took the opportunity to put the phone down. There is so much noise and distraction. It’s becoming harder and harder to listen to our inner voice. Significant life changes and procrastination are sometimes crippling us from going after what we want. But we must remind ourselves that we are responsible for our own happiness—it is ours to create. All we need is a plan and passion.
Getting back into the flow of things can feel like starting to build those habits from scratch, but whether you are forging a new career path or refocusing your commitments, take care of the fundamentals by prioritising diet and movements and listening to your body. Let this time be the time to organise—to create mental and spiritual space through reading, meditation and other tools to help you move forward and post vacations with optimism and curiosity.
Ramen noodle bowls with tofu
There are days when we like to eat something simple and cheap but still flavourful and sophisticated that is warm, earthy and nourishing, and so we have this vegan ramen recipe with veggie broth and tofu. Rich and silky, this recipe is a delicious bowl of creamy, luscious, umami perfection packed with generous flavours and quick to be ready, made with staple ingredients and easy-to-switch toppings.
Self-improvement books that actually helped other people
Will 2025 be your declaration of growth, unfolding, to rediscover? To put the phone down. Do you have a clear vision when it comes to strengthening personal and professional goals? If achieving those milestones, putting some discipline and commitment around your desires is much needed, perhaps you will find the guidance and support in this list.
Composting 101
There are many ways to compost, so we have updated our guide on composting at home with a new tool for converting your food and garden scraps into a nourishing compost that will help your garden thrive. Composting at home is an essential tool for reducing carbon and methane emissions, your opportunity to live a little more circularly and create a nurturing soil for new life. For the days when you feel your impact on the environment is too small. It is not.
Radicchio citrus salad
Every meal is an opportunity to focus on abundance. A welcome addition to any meal, this blush-toned radicchio and citrus salad dressed with an apple cider vinegar dressing makes for a bright, tangy, and herbaceous side. There are also a few reads for health seekers included.

A simple object, but make it elevated. When we reunite with my family, usually in Summer, we enjoy the fresher evenings playing cards, so when I came across this card deck designed in the 80s by graphic designer Takenobu Igarashi, I thought we could play with style.
I discovered Kate Mc Leod's body stone last year. It is like a solidified oil block, and I found it was an original way to moisturise. It is also practical for travelling, as it won't leak during transport. As I am not a huge skincare person, I gifted it to Trace, and the feedback has been positive! It is vegan, cruelty-free, and MADE SAFE™ certified, and you can choose from various scents.
An interview with Anne Applebaum, author of Autocracy, Inc., published in Atmos, about modern autocracies and their evolving nature, and "the urgent need for a coordinated democratic response, and why environmental activism is instrumental in challenging these systems of power and control." Insightful.

Despite what the Internet tells you, gold-plated jewellery cannot be cleaned. It needs replating. Now, in the new year, January is almost over; if you can believe it, I am in maintenance mode, and I am starting with my earrings. Google for jewellers in your area who can re-plate your pieces, they will look new again! And no need to purchase replacements. They are perfectly fine, it is just inevitable that you need to make the investment, like paying a cobbler to put new heel caps on your boots (also me next month).
Still, on the theme of maintenance, this one rec is for perhaps more people with animals that leave their fur and hair everywhere but also human hair and dust is a challenge to remove, so everyone, buy a Furfy. The Furfy does not require adhesives or batteries, the reviews are five stars, and the demonstration video is impressive. I’ve added to cart. Flury ships worldwide.
And maintaining your oral health. I recently switched to Davids Expanding Dental Floss because probably what I was using was single-use and contained more chemicals. Davids floss contains nano-hydroxyapatite to aid remineralisation, while vegan wax and cocoa butter provide a clean glide between teeth and gums. It is also expanding, designed to create an increased surface area to more effectively grab plaque and debris. It is also refillable. If you use our iHerb code BAI9566, you will receive 5% off your order.
Thoughts, questions, you can always direct reply to these emails. We look forward to hearing from you!
